I am just beginning and have almost a year to prepare for taking the test, thank goodness.  I would imagine that at least some members here are further along and have less time to prepare.  I have always found that studying my way has stood me well when I have had to take tests both back in high school and college as well as when I took the various classes I needed for my healthcare career in Maine.  I have always studied every step of the way through a class (instead of cramming at the last minute) and taken copious notes.  I find that I retain much more when I write it down or if I actually do it.  The hands-on portions of my classes should help me retain much of what I learn but I'm sure it won't cover everything I need.  I am hoping that my techniques will help me again with this test but I am open to hearing any study methods or styles that work for everyone else.

Hi Bookworm,

My study plan is basically to learn/revise in 20-40 minute sections. This is the scientifically proven optimum time period for studying. After this our ability to concentrate (on average) diminishes, as does our ability to recall. Studying at the same time of day can, for some reason, be more beneficial.

I also suggest that you look into some accelerated learning techniques like speed reading and mnemonics as they can really cut down the amount of 'rote' learning that you have to do.

Oh and study timetables are a pain to make but they do help you keep task-orientated!
