My name is Susan and I guess you can say my journey is just beginning.  I start my practical nursing classes in January and will be able to take the NCLEX next fall.  Ultimately, I hope to become an RN but I must do it gradually as I have children to care for and still need to work part-time in order to keep the bills paid.  I have experience in working in assisted living facilities as a personal care attendant, medication technician, social services director and primary charge aide.  My last position in the field was as the resident care director.  This was in Maine where the regulations are quite different than here in Massachusetts.  I worked primarily with mentally ill residents whose mental state kept them from being able to live alone but most had a number of health issues, as well.  I want to get back to working with the mentally ill but the facilities down here are completely different.
